American Express Travel Insights article: Undiscovered Maui "With inviting beaches and the requisite stunning scenery, Maui has long been a popular destination for a variety of travellers. But most people see the island on rather predictable tours. Pono Fried, owner of Open Eye Tours and an expert on Hawaiian culture, history, and nature, has a few ideas about how to see the island in a whole new way (and avoid the crowds in the process)."
"An Intimate Look at Maui" from Hawaii with Kids by by Rachel Christmas Derrick "Barry 'Pono' Fried, an outdoorsman, certified SCUBA diver, language teacher, and musician as well as a published photographer, loves getting children of all ages involved in the fun whether he is leading visitors to the island's most popular spots or to nooks and crannies they might never find on their own."

Talkin Travel Hawaii articles Four paragraphs from the very bottom of the page is the article Hawaii: the Holiday Antidote by Axel Olson. "Open Eye Tours gave me a new appreciation of Paradise."
Iao Valley with Pono Fried (video) This is an example of just ONE type of service I provide- the tour was geared toward Culture, Ethno-botany and Spirituality based on the nature of the interviewer's mission/interests. Also, this sample tour with Lilou was more than 3 hours and the footage was edited down to under 20 minutes, so this excerpt (not in sequence) is just meant to be a brief introduction/sampling of some of the things that might take place on certain tours only.
